Ouray

I've not visited Ouray since Mark & Bobbie have lived there but I did enjoy a visit back in July, 2007. I was returning from a Grand Canyon river trip with friends and after we all split up, I thought I would drive over to see Mesa Verde and the area. I am glad I did because it was a wonderful trip.

While using Durango as a home base for my camper and me, I headed out in different directions each day. One day, I took a day trip to Lovely Ouray. The drive was spectacular and scenic at every turn.

I first took a hike, enjoyed the view from the many turnouts and roadside parks.

Reminds me of Jurassic Park III

Around lunchtime, I took a walk through town and enjoyed a good meal at one of the restaurants.

During this time, I was not aware of the many other hiking opportunities in the area but since reading Mark's blog I have learned a lot about the hiking and camping spots in the area and I hope to return to a lot of both.

One thing I didn't know about was the hot springs and I think that would be fun to visit and enjoy.

We hope you do make it back to Lovely Ouray, and soon. We'll be around, unless it's winter.
Thanks,
mark and bobbie
