You may never had heard his name or seen him in your travels or even read about him. But most assuredly you have seen his paintings over time. You may have seen them in a lobby of a hotel or office building. You may have seen them while waiting in a doctors or dentists office. More likely, you would have seen his works in fine magazines like Arizona Highways or Readers Digest. I remember his awesome landscape and wildlife paintings on calendars or Christmas cards.
Fred Lucas passed away recently after suddenly becoming ill.
I don't know much about the man except he lived for painting and his wonderful story may go untold. But his magnificent projects will live on hopefully forever. The Grand Canyon paintings of Fred Lucas are my favorite. They capture the essence of what the canyon is to me and they inspire me to want to load up and head out West to the canyon country.
An interesting story of his life can be found here. You can learn more about Mr. Lucas by Googling.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I did not remember the name but I certainly remembered the paintings.
I've always seen these paintings, but never knew the man behind them.
I don't know the paintings or artist but I certainly know the views. Excellent interpretations. I'll read more. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing...I wonder how I could get one for my office?
